The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi held a working meeting with the presidium of the Ukrainian World Coordinating Council.
In the course of discussion, a broad number of issues aiming at ensuring decent level of cooperation with Ukrainians living abroad and supporting Ukrainian communities were discussed. Special attention was focused on the issue of efficiency and financing of the State Program for Cooperation with Ukrainians Abroad in 2013 for the period till the year 2015, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on July 18, 2012.
Apart from this, the Parties discussed forms of cooperation between organizations of Ukrainians living abroad and the Ukrainian Parliament, as well as refinement of national legislation in the part of protection of both Ukrainians living abroad and citizens of Ukraine-migrant workers. “High level of unregulated labour migration, social and legal vulnerability of Ukrainian citizens working abroad as well as members of their families require urgent legislative settlement,” he stressed.
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada expressed hope that similar meetings “will promote fruitful dialogue, realistic and gradual settlement of daily challenges that the Ukrainian community abroad faces”.
